This past weekend the 12U AA Blue Aviators set off to attempt to accomplish one of their goals they set for this season. They travelled to Dayton, OH to compete in the Silver Sticks Mid-Am Regional Tournament. The Aviators knew going into the tournament that the competition was going to be tough and it was going to take 5 wins to come home with the banner.

On Friday night the Aviators had two games on the slate. They started off by winning 4-1 over the North Pittsburgh Wildcats and completed day one by topping the Parma Flyers 5-1.

Saturday brought a new challenge from the Toledo Cherokee and the Mt Lebanon hornets. Game one against Toledo was a tight physical battle that came right down to the end with the Aviators squeaking by 2-1. Game two was the first of many meetings between the Aviators and Mt Lebanon this season. The game was a tough back and forth game until the Aviators pulled away 3-1.

After all the round robin dust settled, the Aviators and Mt Lebanon  found themselves making it to Championship Sunday. This was the first game in the tournament that the Aviators surrendered the first goal of the game, but sometimes a little adversity helps a team grow stronger and take their game to another level. The Aviators scored the next 4 goals and punched their ticket to the big dance in Port Huron, Michigan where they will take on the best in the US and Canada in the Silver Sticks International Tournament. Congratulations 12U Blue and good luck in January!! Let's Fly!!
